Taiwan-based Jumbo Technology Co Ltd, a specialist supplier of gaming machines and gaming floor management systems, says it will continue to focus on opportunities for expanding sales in Southeast Asia. It also sees Nepal as a “potential market of growth”.
“Right now our company is really focusing on the Southeast Asia market, in which we have a pretty strong footprint already,” said Allen Hsu (pictured), business development manager at Jumbo Technology in an interview with GGRAsia during Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia 2016.
“We’re trying to expand more opportunities in Macau, Philippines, [South] Korea and Cambodia. And we’re currently looking into Nepal as a potential market with growth for Jumbo,” Mr Hsu noted.
The Long Dragon Baccarat electronic table game (ETG) and the Yi Lu Fa slot machine – on Jumbo Technology’s Alphabet platform – have been successful in Asian markets, particularly in the Philippines, the Taiwanese firm’s representative said.
Long Dragon Baccarat enables casino operators to link multiple baccarat games – up to eight games – to a single terminal. A special feature of the latest version of Long Dragon Baccarat is the ‘Long Bonus’. It allows players to place side bets where they perceive a winning streak of ‘banker’ or ‘player’ bets to be occurring. For each game that the ‘winning streak’ is extended, the payout increases. This special feature for Long Dragon Baccarat can go up to a maximum 20 wins, which the manufacturer says offers players a maximum payout of 1,000 times.
“We’re actually very successful with our baccarat [ETG]. It’s doing great [business] in the Philippines: it’s very attractive to the players. Our slot machine Yi Lu Fa is also performing very well,” Mr Hsu said. “By this month, we have three more [Entertainment City] casinos in the Philippines that will have our products,” he added.
Jumbo Technology also distributes a casino management system from its partner company GAMA Technology Ltd. Mr Hsu said that product had also achieved success in the Philippines. Jumbo Technology has been working with state-run operator-cum-regulator the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor) on GAMA’s management system, in order to monitor gaming machines managed by Pagcor.
“For the Philippines… we have started with 5,000 units connected to the GAMA system. And then by [later] this year we’ll have over 6,000 units in 18 casinos – that is, 6,000 slot machines or ETGs – connected to the system,” Mr Hsu stated.
“We also have it [GAMA's system] in [South] Korea, Myanmar and Laos,” he added, “And in Macau, we have the system in Casa Real casino .”
Jumbo Technology will also expand its presence in the Macau market via the new Cotai casino resorts, Mr Hsu said.
“For the Macau market, Asia Pioneer Entertainment [Ltd] is our exclusive distributor. And they are now in the final [negotiation] stage with Wynn Palace and the Parisian,” he told us, referring to the new resorts from respectively Wynn Macau Ltd and Sands China Ltd, which are due to open later this year.
